Iris

This is the HP Color LaserJet located in Colleen's office area.

OS X

If you haven't already done this before, you'll need to add some software to your system. Attached to this topic is ColorLaserJet2605.dmg. It contains an installer for your system. Download it to your desktop, and double click it to mount it on your system. Run the installer it contains. Once the installer completes, you can drag the disk and the dmg file into your trash.

Now, start the Printer Setup Utility. This is located under Utilities, in your Applications folder.

Click Add.

A printer browsing window will open up. Ignore the list of printers it displays; instead, select the IP Printer button in at the top of the window. Then, set up the window according to the following table. Note that the first three entries are most critical, and must be set exactly as you see here.

Protocol HP Jet Direct - Socket
Address iris.cis.rit.edu
Queue leave this field blank
Name iris
Location 17-3170
Print Using HP Color Laserjet 2605

Once you've set it up according to that table, hit the Add button.

On the next page, you'll be prompted to set up a few Installable Options. Again, follow the table below.

Tray 3 Not Installed
Duplex Unit Checked

Hit the Continue button at the bottom of that window, and you'll be all set.

If you have other printers configured on your machine, remember to check your default printer setting. Apple's Printer Setup Utility will often change your default printer to whatever you've just added, and without warning you.
