They've developed a Grid service for metadata management.
Their first paper on their website claims its contributions are:

An evaluation of the alternative implementations of the service: Metadata Catalog Service (MCS)
The MetadataCatalogProject seems concerned with indexing the data.
The StorageResourceBrokerProject seems to be concerned with actually
retrieving the heterogenous data.
I haven't finished reading the papers yet. But, that's mostly because
I'm backtracking a bit to see exactly what they mean by Grid computing.
