Move Dates

Current best estimate is "by the end of January", due to problems with certification of the fire alarm system.

Previously Jan 16, due to ...?

Previously Jan 9, due to delay in furniture installation.

Previously December 2005.

Systems To Be Moved

The table below is our best effort at matching equipment to their eventual jacks. Please take note:

  • The jacks for the cluster of offices 3176, 3178, 3179, 3181 are mislabeled. They all claim to be "3190". I've made my best guess at what they should be below.
  • We have portable network equipment, like the oscilloscope below, that are moved from project to project very frequently. Thus, for every pair of overhead jacks, at least one needs to be activated. This would include: 145, 152, 156, 172, 191.
  • Jack 164 should be activated in the CIS subnet. Jack 165 should be activated in the subnet for the rest of the building, if at all possible.
  • Jacks below labeled stu are part of the student cubicles, which at present have no jack numbers printed on them, so we don't know what they are.
    • All three of the student offices in 3150 need to be activated.
    • Five of the six student offices in 3170 need to be activated.
  • In addition to the phones in the offices and the labs, we're also requesting a phone for 3177 and 3179. At least one, preferably two, network activations for each of these rooms as well. These are meeting/conference rooms.
  • At least one jack in 4115 (third floor roof lab) needs to be activated.

Script for Extracting

Here's a quick script for extracting the above table into CSV format. Snarf the following into a file, and save its output as some kind of foo.csv file. Why CSV? Because any half-decent spreadsheet should be able to open it without a problem, and I know how much you folks love spreadsheets.

#!/bin/sh

sed -n -e '/^| [^*]/!b' \
       -e 's/<b>//g' -e 's,</b>,,g' -e 's,<nop */*>,,g' \
       -e 's/ *|/|/g' -e 's/| */|/g' -e 's/^|//' -e 's/|$//' \
       -e 's/5-[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]|/x&/' -e 's/|xx5-/|x5-/' \
       -e 's/"/""/g' -e 's/|/","/g' -e 's/^/"/' -e 's/$/"/' \
       -e p < /lias/net/twiki/data/LIAS/MoveToCollaboratory.txt

exit 0

If anyone knows how to disable Excel's braindeath that insists on taking 5-1234 as a numerical equation instead of just leaving it alone as text, that script could be one whole line shorter. It figures, out of all the spreadsheets I tried this on, Excel is the only one that needs this kind of protection from its own stupidity.
